English name: Canary pine - heath forests

Description (English)

Forests of humid, fogbound north- and northwest-facing slopes in the lower reaches of the Pinus canariensis belt, with an abundance of Erica arborea and Myrica faya, and occasionally with Ilex canariensis and Arbutus canariensis; epiphytic lichens are abundant, as are dense carpets of mosses, in particular, Hypnum cupressiforme. These woods are the main habitat of Regulus teneriffae.
