Name Description Boreal Winters are long and cold, with temperatures below 6�C for 6-9 months, and summers are short, with temperatures averaging more than 10�C. Precipitation, as snow in winter, typically amounts to 380-635 mm per annum. Equated to the boreal (taiga) forest zone of Eurasia, where it extends to 65-70 � N in the west and 50 � N in the east, and North America, where it extends from the fringe of the tundra southwards to 55 � N in the east.
