Dry or mesophile calcareous grasslands of subarctic affinities, limited to the continental middle boreal zone of lowland Sweden and northern Finland and to the middle boreal and arcto-alpine zones of the Scandinavian mountains; dominated by Festuca rubra, with Botrychium boreale, Botrychium lanceolatum, Botrychium lunaria, Carex brunnescens, Carex ericetorum, Cerastium alpinum, Erigeron borealis, Galium boreale, Gentiana nivalis, Gentianella amarella, Gentianella campestris, Gentianella tenella, Poa glauca, Primula scandinavica, Primula striata.
