Balkan subalpine genistoid scrub

Description (English)

Genistoid heath and scrub of high mountains in the Balkans, often in primary grassy mosaics at higher altitudes, but also extending below the timberline where wood-cutting and grazing open up the forest cover and sustain the vegetation as an anthropogenic replacement.
