Description ( English )
[Pinus mugo]-dominated formations of the Pirin and the Rila, with remnants in the Balkan Range, including the Suva Planina and Stara Planina. This habitat has been severely reduced by clearance for pastures, and its distribution area regressed; in addition to the ranges where it still forms substantial stands, [Pinus mugo] is recorded from the western Rhodope, the Vitosha and, perhaps, Orvilos.
