Cultural heritage In the middle Ages, the Tuscan part belonged to the Camaldoli monks, and the part in Romagna to the princes of Guidi da Puppi. The monastery was converted to secular use in 1886 and the Casentino woods were directly administrated by the state. In 1914 the Romagna forests, formerly owned by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, also became the property of the state.
