Insubrian acidophilous birch forests
Description (English)
Birch woods of the collinar and lower montane levels of northern Italy, dispersed in the Alpine foothills where they constitute substitution stages of the Insubrian acidophilous oak woods (Castaneo-Quercetum p.), on the fluvioglacial terraces of the Po system, as facies of the acidophilous pine-birch-oak woods, and in the Euganean hills.
