Greek holm-oak forest
Description (English)
Quercus ilex-dominated formations of peninsular Greece and the Ionian and Aegean archipelagoes, with the exception of those of Crete; associated with Quercus ilex are Quercus coccifera, Arbutus andrachne, Arbutus unedo, Phillyrea latifolia, Pistacia terebinthus, Pistacia lentiscus, Olea europaea, Juniperus oxycedrus; arborescent matorrals (unit F5.1) occur throughout the area, though much less commonly than in the western Mediterranean; reasonably extensive, fully developed, mature forest stands do not appear to remain.
