Hiberno-Britannic Calluna vulgaris - Ulex gallii heaths
Description (English)
Oceanic heaths of Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, the South-West Peninsula and, locally, the Pennines and the coasts of East Anglia, dominated by Ulex gallii, Calluna vulgaris and Erica cinerea. Basicline heaths, somewhat homologous to the continental formations of unit S422B, may form in zones of transition between some communities of this unit and calcareous grasslands of unit E1 (of EUNIS 2012 split in R1G, R1H, R1J, R1K, R1L).
