Soft water spring mires

Description (English)

Spring mires of acid or neutral, oligotrophic to eutrophic non-calcareous springs. The specialised spring communities belong to the various associations of the Montio-Cardaminetea. The associated swamp communities belong to the Caricetalia fuscae and may be found in unit D2.22 of EUNIS 2012 now split in Q22, Q23, Q24. The hydrophilous mosses Bryum schleicheri, Philonotis fontana, Pellia epiphylla, Brachythecium rivulare and vascular plants Cardamine amara, Cardamine acris, Rumex balcanicus, Saxifraga stellaris, Montia rivularis among others are the dominant species.
