Balkanic quaking bogs
Description (English)
Dense, low formations, typified by an abundant turf layer of Sphagnum contortum, Sphagnum flexuosum, Sphagnum subsecundum, Sphagnum acutifolium, Sphagnum squarrosum and the presence of Drosera rotundifolia, Pinguicula balcanica or Equisetum fluviatile. Other important elements of this habitat are mosses Aulacomnium palustre, Scorpidium vernicosum, Philonotis fontana and vascular plants Carex echinata, Carex curta, Parnassia palustris, Potentilla erecta, Eriophorum angustifolium.
