Description (English)

This is a facies of the Pontic well sorted infralittoral fine sands. The Chamelea gallina community characterised by the dominant species - Neanthes succinea, Spio filicornis, Mohrensternia lineolata, occurred in Karkinitska Bay (Sinegub 2006). Since 2005 this mollusc (with Neanthes succinea, Polydora ciliata, Heteromastus filiformis, Melinna palmata, Balanus improvisus) has formed a community in the Odessa region (Sinegub unpubl). This habitat has been commercially exploited in Turkey between 1985-2000.
