Description
General character of the site | Dońana on the lower Guadalquivir is one of Western Europe's last unspoilt natural sites harbouring numerous endangered animal species. The importance of Dońana was one of the reasons for creating the WWF. |

Vulnerability | Before it was established, the reserve suffered from the pressure of urban development along the coast and intensive agriculture in the neighbourhood (pesticides, rice fields and irrigation wells). |

Owner | Ownership is shared by the state, local authorities, private individuals and conservation groups. ICONA is responsible for general management of the park and the director of the biological station for coordinating research activities. |
