Description
| General character of the site | Terschelling is the middle island of the five inhabited Wadden Sea islands. It is 30 km long and 3-4 km across. Although part of its western half is developed for tourism, the eastern third- De Boschplaat- is an uninhabited nature reserve. |

| Vulnerability | Pollution of the Wadden Sea is decreasing, proposed off-shore oil/gas drillings outside the reserve on longer term, visitors entering the prohibited areas on foot (no serious threath, as long as the present management can be continued the situation is under control), in carriages and by boat; illegal use of motor vehicles. There is disturbance from low-flying aircraft. The polder meadows are grazed by geese outside the reserve. |
