Mediterranean and Macaronesian riparian forest

Description (English)

Deciduous broadleaved forest, most commonly dominated by poplars (Populus), willows (Salix) or oriental plane (Platanus orientalis), on periodically flooded alluvia or gravel terraces and streamsides in humid localities in the Mediterranean and Macaronesia. Also includes streamside forests with Rhododendron ponticum and Betula pendula var. fontqueri in Spain.
