Pannonic limestone beech forests
Description (English)
Low forests of Fagus sylvatica, not exceeding 12-15 metres in height, on shallow soils, usually of steep slopes, of the mid- and peri-Pannonic Bükk and Pilis hills, with an herb layer characterized by the endemic Sesleria heuflerana ssp. hungarica, Calamagrostis varia, Phyteuma spicatum, and the presence of xerophilous oak forest species, of orchids and rare species, including Cypripedium calceolus and Allium victorialis.
