Dinaric spruce forests
Description (English)
Spruce forests of the subalpine, montane or submontane levels of the Dinarides dominated by Picea abies with a varying admixture of Abies alba, Fagus sylvatica or both. They include subalpine spruce forests, edaphic or microclimatic montane spruce or fir-spruce forests and, occasionally, spruce-dominated facies of montane or submontane Fagion illyricum and Fagion moesiacum beech-fir forests. They extend throughout the range, from the northern edge of the Dinarides in Slovenia south to the Tara, Povlen, Zlatibor, Golija, Zeljin and Kopaonik ranges, immediately to the north of the Metohija depression.
