Aljibian cork-oak forests
Description (English)
Luxuriant, fully developed, humid and hyper-humid meso- to thermo-Mediterranean forests occupying, with the more exiguous and even more umbrophilous Quercus canariensis formations, the higher elevations of the sierras of the Campo de Gibraltar and a few enclaves of the Sierra de Ronda, with elements of north African oak forests such as Teucrium scorodonia ssp. baeticum and Ruscus hypophyllum; they are best represented in the Sierra de Aljibe, and are, next to those of Sardinia, the best-preserved cork-oak forests of the Community.
