Mediterranean biogenic reefs assemblages of the lower mediolittoral rock biocenosis
Description (English)
The species composing these biocoenoses are strongly affected by variations in wave action and submersion. This is a rocky area located at sea level, moistened by the waves. This habitat is particularly characterised by the presence of calcareous algal formations, particularly the Lithophyllum lichenoides (=Lithophyllum tortuosum) rim, whose constructions may be 1 to 2 metres wide and have great aesthetic value.
