Invertebrate-dominated sunken timber in the Black Sea infralittoral
Description (English)
Sunken logs are often present along forested coasts and in estuaries in the infralittoral zone of the Black Sea, as a result of river floods or violent storms in coastal forests. They are inhabited by shipworms (wood-boring bivalves) Teredo navalis.
