Black sea infralittoral muddy sand

Description (English)

Non-cohesive muddy sand (with 5% to 20% silt/clay) in the lower infralittoral zone. The habitat is dominated by faunal species including ghost shrimps and bivalves. Characteristic species: Upogebia pusilla, Mya arenaria, Anadara inaequivalvis, Abra alba, Spisula subtruncata and Pitar rudis.
