English name: Afro-Iberian thermophilous oak forests

Description (English)

Iberian and North African forests and woods dominated by Quercus faginea, Quercus canariensis or Quercus afares. The humid formations of southwestern Iberia (units G1.772 and G1.773) are forest types of unique character in Europe and of extreme biological importance; also highly distinctive and vulnerable are the Baetic and Valencian formations listed under subunits G1.7714 and G1.7715.
